Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who represents Texas’ 34th District in the U.S. Congress, has shared several tweets highlighting local events and important reminders. Serving since 2017 after replacing Rubén Hinojosa, Gonzalez has consistently engaged with the community, emphasizing economic stability through Social Security and timely tax filings.

On April 15, 2025, Gonzalez tweeted about attending the Mercedes State of the City event and meeting Mayor Oscar Montoya. He stated, "Team Gonzalez had the pleasure of attending the Mercedes State of the City and meeting with Mayor Oscar Montoya. I am always proud to stand with our community and to look ahead to a bright future!"

Later that day, Gonzalez issued a reminder about the federal tax filing deadline, emphasizing the availability of the IRS Direct File tool. He tweeted, "South Texas, reminder that the federal tax filing deadline is today! Use the IRS Direct File tool to do your taxes for free! Find out if you’re eligible at https://t.co/2UlEdgKSy8"

With a focus on social security, Gonzalez also participated in the #SocialSecurityDayofAction. He wrote, "Today is #SocialSecurityDayofAction. Social Security is not just a program, but a promise of economic stability for the 125,000 recipients in TX-34 alone. I will always fight to defend Social Security for those who use it today, and for future generations of Americans "

Vicente Gonzalez, 55, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and currently resides in McAllen. He graduated from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University with a BA in 1992 and obtained a JD from Texas Wesleyan University in 1996.
