Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 34th district, shared a series of updates via social media regarding recent developments and celebrations in his community.

On December 11, 2024, Rep. Gonzalez announced that the City of Harlingen's Police Department will receive $17,929 from the Department of Justice to enhance its field training officer program with advanced technology. This initiative aims to improve efficiency and safety in Harlingen. "I am excited to announce the City of Harlingen's Police Department will be awarded $17,929 by @TheJusticeDept to modernize its field training officer program with advanced technology! These developments will allow the officers to work efficiently to keep Harlingen safe."

On December 12, 2024, Rep. Gonzalez commemorated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, acknowledging her significance as the patron saint of Mexico and a source of guidance for many in South Texas and globally. He expressed hopes for peace and unity on this day. "Today marks the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, honoring the Virgin Mary as patron saint of Mexico. Like many in South Texas and around the world, I often turn to our Lady for guidance and reflection. May she protect us and let us pray that today brings peace and unity."

Later on December 12, Rep. Gonzalez reported another grant from the Department of Justice amounting to $14,179 for new computers for the City of Donna's Police Department. This funding is intended to enhance efficiency and security measures within their operations. "Exciting news for the City of Donna! @TheJusticeDept has granted the Police Department $14,179 for new computers. This will allow police officers to work more efficiently and securely to protect our citizens."
