WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 28, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced the launch of the annual Congressional App Challenge. This competition highlights the importance of STEM education in the U.S. and helps students acquire valuable computer and coding skills. A panel of experts selects one app as the winner from each congressional district, with the winning app being displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building and featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website.
“This competition is a fantastic way to showcase the immense talent found in our South Texas students. Every year, they have a chance to display their creativity, intelligence, and computer-based skills, while building an app that is beneficial to our community,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “This competition is also a chance to see how the next generation’s skills will help our country remain technologically and economically competitive in the coming decades. I can’t wait to see what our brilliant students submit this year and encourage all those interested to participate.”
Middle and high school students from all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is November 1st, 2023. To find out more information and to submit an application, please contact Ben Whitman in the district office at (956) 682-5545. Students and educators can also learn more by visiting the Congressional App Challenge’s official website: www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us.
