Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who represents Texas' 34th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of social media posts on April 10 and 11, 2025, addressing various topics pertinent to his constituency and broader cultural recognition. Rep. Gonzalez has held his congressional position since 2017, succeeding Rubén Hinojosa, and is noted for his focus on education, infrastructure, and Latino representation.

On April 10, 2025, Rep. Gonzalez criticized the current Republican Budget Resolution, emphasizing its potential negative impact on essential services. He tweeted, "The harmful Republican Budget Resolution cuts crucial services for South Texans, including Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, Head Start, Pell Grants, the National School Lunch program, SNAP benefits, and vital infrastructure funding." He underscored the need for prudent budget management that does not undermine necessary services.

Later that day, Gonzales's team celebrated a local infrastructure milestone. On the same date, April 10, 2025, he expressed pride in attending the launch of a new public transit project. He wrote, "Team Gonzalez was proud to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Willacy Express! This new bus route will increase connectivity between Raymondville, Lyford, Sebastian, and Harlingen." This initiative aims to improve transportation options in these communities.

On the following day, April 11, 2025, Rep. Gonzalez highlighted the cultural significance of Freddy Fender's music. He, alongside Rep. Joaquin Castro, celebrated the inclusion of the song "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" in the National Recording Registry. Gonzalez tweeted, " @JoaquinCastrotx and I are thrilled for Freddy Fender’s “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” entry into the National Recording Registry. Thank you for your help in making this happen — let’s keep pushing Latino representation at the highest levels!" This entry marks a step forward in promoting Latino cultural representation.

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1967, and resides in McAllen. He completed his undergraduate education at Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University and obtained a JD from Texas Wesleyan University.
