BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – On June 7, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced the allocation of $1,736,120 in federal funding for the Brownsville Community Health Clinic.  This funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Cluster grant program and is a second payment in a larger grant designed to assure access to comprehensive primary health care services.

“Facilities like the Brownsville Community Health Clinic provide crucial healthcare services to the most vulnerable in South Texas. This grant will go a long way to fund improvements that will expand access to high-quality, low-cost primary healthcare,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “The grant is just another example of the benefits that happen when we prioritize investments in our communities.”

“Considering the situation in DC, we are extremely happy and grateful for the FYE 2024 grant award.   While not enough, we certainly welcome all the funding we can get,” said Hilda Gonzalez, Deputy Director of the Brownsville Community Health Center. “Over 19,000 patients in Southern Cameron County are counting on us for their healthcare and more.  This award is a testament to the bi-partisan support Brownsville Community Health Center (BCHC) has received for over 40 years.  We are confident that BCHC and other community health centers throughout the U.S. will continue to receive the support from Champions like Congressman Vicente Gonzalez.”
