The City of Los Fresnos has been awarded over $5 million from the Texas Water Development Board for a water and wastewater improvement project.
The Texas Water Newsroom reported the fund will go toward improving a deteriorating sewer system in Los Fresnos, and will also ensure 36 connections will receive first-time sewer service. It will also help upgrade the city's water treatment plant.
This will let the plant go from 1 million gallons of water per day to 1.5 million to address the growing population in the area.
The funds for the grant come from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, which distributed $1.6 million, and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, which distributed $3.625 million, for a total grant of $5.225 million. The financial assistance will help save the city $730,000 on the project.
