Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 34th district since 2017, recently shared several updates on social media concerning his constituents and local developments.
On July 7, Rep. Gonzalez expressed gratitude towards law enforcement officials for their efforts in preventing a potential attack. He stated, “Grateful to the brave men and women of Border Patrol and McAllen PD who stepped in to prevent an ambush.”
In another update dated July 8, he reminded South Texans affected by the March 2025 floods about the deadline for applying for federal assistance. He informed that they have until July 22, 2025, to apply for FEMA aid. His post read: “South Texans who were impacted by the March 2025 Floods have until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, to apply for FEMA assistance.” Additional details on application procedures are available on FEMA’s website.
Further supporting community development efforts in Brownsville, Rep. Gonzalez announced on July 9 that Come Dream. Come Build received financial backing from NeighborWorks America. The $50,000 grant is aimed at expanding housing options and boosting economic growth in the area. He noted his appreciation with: “Come Dream. Come Build, in Brownsville, has been awarded a $50,000 grant from NeighborWorks America.”
Vicente Gonzalez was born in Corpus Christi and resides in McAllen. He holds degrees from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University and Texas Wesleyan University.
