Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 34th district, recently shared a series of tweets highlighting significant events and concerns. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1967, Gonzalez has been an active member of Congress since 2017 after replacing Rubén Hinojosa. He resides in McAllen and holds degrees from Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University and Texas Wesleyan University.
On July 10, 2025, Rep. Gonzalez noted that “Team Gonzalez attended the Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony! This annual observance signifies the beginning of a bountiful year! We are grateful for the hard working shrimpers that provide our communities and places around the world with the best shrimp from the best region!” The ceremony marks an important cultural tradition within his district.
Later on the same day, he reminded South Texans affected by natural disasters about impending deadlines: “South Texans who were impacted by the March 2025 Floods have until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, to apply for FEMA assistance.” This message underscores ongoing recovery efforts following severe weather events earlier in the year.
In another post from July 10th, Rep. Gonzalez addressed national defense issues by stating that “Every branch of our Armed Forces has a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of the men and women who take an oath to defend our country.” He mentioned leading a group from the Hispanic Caucus to seek explanations from Navy leadership regarding certain tragic incidents.
