Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 34th district, recently shared several updates on social media regarding educational and cultural developments in Texas. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Gonzalez has been an active political figure since replacing Rubén Hinojosa in 2017.

On November 21, 2024, Rep. Gonzalez announced his participation in the grand opening of the Arts, Culture, and Event Center (ACE) in Edinburg. He expressed enthusiasm about the new facility's potential to "inspire creativity" and provide a venue for South Texans to engage with various forms of art. "Team Gonzalez was honored to join the Arts, Culture, and Event Center (ACE)’s grand opening in Edinburg today! This new facility will inspire creativity and offer a place for South Texans to pursue their passion for dance, art, theatre, and more."

Starting next fall, these institutions will offer free tuition to students from families earning less than $100k annually. He praised this initiative as "incredible progress" for Texans aspiring to higher education and noted its alignment with similar measures previously implemented by UTRGV in 2021. "Starting next Fall, schools in the UT System will offer free tuition to students whose families make less than $100k a year."
