There were 4 Pacific Islander students enrolled in Harlingen CISD schools in 2022-23 school year

There were four Pacific Islander students enrolled in Harlingen CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 20% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Harlingen CISD schools welcomed 17,034 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Harlingen CISD roughly covers schools within Cameron County and has a main office in Harlingen.

Among the 31 schools in Harlingen CISD schools, Harlingen High School - South recorded the highest enrollment of Pacific Islander students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
