How many students were enrolled in Rio Hondo ISD schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 1,603 students enrolled in Rio Hondo ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 7.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.8% of them were girls, and 49.2% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 96.2% of the Rio Hondo ISD total enrollment.

Rio Hondo ISD roughly covers schools within Cameron County with its main office in Rio Hondo.

Among the four schools in Rio Hondo ISD, Rio Hondo Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 605 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
