Ortiz Elementary School in Texas Receives National Blue Ribbon Award for Academic Excellence

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ortiz Elementary School in Brownsville, Texas has been named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, announced Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) today.

"I congratulate Ortiz Elementary for its high level of academic excellence — making it one Texas’s highest performing schools," said Congressman Gonzalez. "This award would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of its exemplary faculty, educators, and students. Ortiz Elementary not only serves as a national model for best practices in teaching and learning but also as a testament to the sheer talent and potential found in our South Texas teachers and students."

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools across the country for their exceptional academic performance or for closing achievement gaps. Ortiz Elementary School was one of only 29 schools in Texas and 353 schools nationwide to receive this prestigious accolade. The school was specifically recognized for its overall academic performance.
