City of Harlingen issued the following announcement on Oct. 21.
More than 2300 people received free food today during a food distribution at the Harlingen Soccer Complex. The distribution sponsored by the City and the Food Bank RGV was the last one for this month. Two are scheduled each month through the end of the year.
Today, families received more than a dozen items including a watermelon, hot dogs, milk, chicken, cheese, juice, and potatoes.
In total, 31,564 items were distributed to 553 families consisting of 1,618 adults and 762 children.
The distributions for November and December as follows:
- November 4 & 18
- December 2 & 16
Recipients don’t have to be Harlingen residents but they do need to wear a mask.
