City of Harlingen issued the following announcement on May 27.
The City of Harlingen and the Food Bank RGV last week handed out more thousands of pounds of food at the Harlingen Soccer Complex.
City Staff along with National Guard members distributed 27,917 pounds of food. It was provided free of charge to 420 families that showed up between 9 -11 a.m.
The distributions are part of the City’s and the Food Bank’s efforts to help those affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Two more are planned for next month:
- June 10
- June 17
Those that show up will not be allowed to get off their vehicle. Volunteers will place the food in the trunk and no food will be placed inside the vehicle.
When they arrive they simply have to follow the distribution line. Last week’s totals include 1252 adults and 588 children.
