City of La Feria issued the following announcement on April 28.
Cameron County has received confirmation of two additional COVID-19 related deaths of Cameron County residents. The individuals were 79 year old and 81 year old females linked to the Veranda Nursing Home and Windsor Atrium, respectively. Both were previously reported cases. This raises the number of COVID-19 related deaths to sixteen (16) in Cameron County.
“As we continue to see the impact of COVID-19 through the loss of our most vulnerable population, our heart goes out to the families and friends during their time of sorrow” stated Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr.
Cameron County has also received confirmation of an additional eleven (11) reports of COVID-19. This includes the following:

This raises the total number of cases to 387 in Cameron County. Of the 387 cases, 171 individuals have recovered.
Cameron County Public Health continues to work with the two nursing home facilities in addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks. To date, the Cameron County cases arising from the Veranda Nursing Home has included 31 employees and 58 residents who have tested positive, including ten (10) who have passed away. The Windsor Atrium currently has 31 employees and 27 residents who have tested positive. They have had five (5) individuals linked to Windsor Atrium who have passed away.
As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed, and continues to monitor the situation.
