CITY OF HARLINGEN: Observes Children’s Grief Awareness Day

Grieveparent

City of Harlingen issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

Mayor Chris Boswell has declared November 19, 2020, as “Children’s Grief Awareness Day” and encourages all citizens to support the grieving children in our community.

Losing a loved one can be a difficult time for most people and can affect children deeply.  Children often lack the knowledge, experience, or vocabulary needed to express their feelings, ask questions, or cope with such as loss.  To support the children in our community and to raise awareness, the Harlingen City Commission recognized the Children’s Bereavement Center Rio Grande Valley for the work they do to help children cope with their grief.

Administrators with the center were presented with a proclamation during the virtual City Commission Meeting of November 18 in support of the campaign for National Children’s Grief Awareness month and proclaimed November 19, 2020, as Children’s Grief Awareness Day in Harlingen.
