The UT-Rio Grande Valley Center for Innovation and Commercialization (CIC) will help businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through a $300,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA).
“Through EDA grant funding, we are offering three programs to help entrepreneurs and small businesses," Laurie Simmons, director of the CIC, said in a news release. “And we are hoping that this support can make a difference during this challenging time.”
The CIC is also offering a student internship program that will help businesses that are impacted by the pandemic and have had to reduce staff. The internships can be in-person, virtual, or a hybrid. Students will complete more than 100 hours during their internship and be awarded a stipend of $1,000.
The CIC is also offering pro-bono marketing and social media services for businesses that need help transitioning to online services.
